Gary is our Independent Social Worker and Evangelist Pastor based in Northern Ireland, he trained within the learning disability field from 1999 to 2004, where he started studying for the Social Work qualification. He has extensive knowledge and experience of Family and Childcare practice, from children’s teams (Family Intervention Teams). Adolescents (which is where most of his F&CC experience resides), to working within the residential care sector. It was during these times Gary completed extensive work on suicides and suicidal behaviour amongst adolescents and young adults. Self-harm is another area of his study, and Gary gained much knowledge with young people who abuse substances. Alongside this, Gary is experienced with F&CC court work. Since 2013, he has worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for 4 years and following that he worked in residential care. He also worked within adult mental health services before joining the Patient and Client Council, where he worked as a Senior Social Work Practitioner until 2023. Due to the nature of Social Work, presently, Gary can only work professionally as a Independent Social Worker Northern Ireland. • An experienced in Family and Childcare Social Work.

• An experienced Mental Health Practitioner (retired) – (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) – CAMHS.

• An experienced in NHS (Northern Ireland Governance issues), (Up to SAI Incident levels; I have knowledge and experience of NHS systems and functions, both internal (Trust level, and at (Board) I.E. - SPPG and PHA Level).

• A trainer in suicide and self-harm awareness. (This is pending).

• A trainer in crisis work, grief and loss and recovery model awareness. (This is pending).
